My path to yoga started in 2006 when my sister introduced me to yoga. Since then I have developed a keen interest in the effect of yoga, physically, mentally and emotionally. I soon became an assistant instructor and sought opportunities to go abroad to broaden my knowledge and practice and to receive formal training, enhance body flexibility to become a qualified instructor. In 2007, I took part in a meditation course in Bali and later in that year I went to Hangshan in China to do the first stage of Sri Sri Yoga teacher training course organised by Art of Living Foundation. In 2008, I took part in a meditation course in Johor and later went to Bangalore in India to further my meditation technique. In early 2009, I attended the second stage of Sri Sri Yoga teacher training course in Fuzhou China organised by Art of Living Foundation and obtained my teacher training qualification.I like to encourage and motivate my students and willingly share with them my wonderful yoga experience.
Yoga has been present in my life since childhood, where I would often come home to find my mother practicing and it was through her home practice that I learnt my first asanas. Later, of my own accord, I began my own study of yoga, initially through attending classes at the Iyengar Yoga Center in Edinburgh, which gave me experience in the elementary foundations of yoga and gave me a platform to explore the various types of yoga practised. Having experienced different yoga schools and the different styles that are taught, such as Iyengar, Astanga and Hatha, I decided to embark on a yoga teacher training programme at the Sivananda Ashram in India. This programme deepened my yoga knowledge and practice. Yoga isn’t just about being fit and flexible, it is an ongoing journey to improvement that anyone at any point can start.
I started my yoga journey under Polycarp Teo Sebom and with my strong interest and enthusiasm in yoga I was able to progress to a level where I decided to attend a teacher training course under Yoga Acharya Paalu Ramasamy and master trainer Satya Chong with emphasis on Anatomy and Physiology of the human body. I am now a qualified yoga teacher. Registered yoga teacher (ERYT) under yoga Alliance.
I started yoga 5 years ago and with keen interest and hardwork, I've been able to progress, understand and apply the theory and philosophy of yoga.I have attended various different types of yoga workshops to have a better and all rounded grasp of yoga. Some of these workshops are, Noah Maze's Anusara Yoga Intensive, Edwark Clark's Vinyasa Yoga Teaching Training Module 2, Desiree Rumbaugh's Anusara Yoga Teaching Training.
